🚢 The concept of SEZs in India dates back to the 1960s, with the first zone, then called an Export Promotion Zone, set up in Kandla, Gujarat. Since the enactment of the 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲 (𝗦𝗘𝗭) 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟱, the number of zones has grown rapidly. Today, SEZs contribute 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀, more than USD 170 billion annually.

🇮🇳🇩🇪 For 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀, SEZs can offer a smart entry point, not necessarily into the Indian market, but into the 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺.
