🇮🇳🇩🇪 While visiting 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻 over the last weekend and walking in front of the 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗰𝗵𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, I was thinking how much closer India and Germany are in terms of their 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 than one might think. Both countries share a 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: a commitment to the rule of law, separation of powers, and parliamentary governance.

🤝 This shared democratic foundation creates great opportunities for deeper 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. The political will to strengthen this partnership is not new and it was recently reaffirmed by the Prime Minister of India, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗶, and the Chancellor of Germany, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝘇, as reflected in their exchange on X (formerly Twitter) on June 17, 2025, following their meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Canada (Link in the comments).

💡For my network in Germany, I have included some interesting facts in this post to give a snapshot of 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺, focussing on the similarities to Germany’s parliamentary political system.
